Flix launches bus services in India, continuing its growth path

Flix, a global travel-tech leader for affordable and sustainable transport, announces its launch in India.
The company is looking to add value to the local bus market, implementing its technology-driven business approach to offer safe, reliable, and convenient bus travel. The first buses are scheduled to depart on February 6th, connecting 46 cities with Delhi as a hub.

With an estimated market size of €30bn*, India is the second largest bus market in the world,* offering huge potential for Flix. Online bus travel bookings are growing significantly*, making it the right time for Flix to introduce its own tech platform. The company will not only focus on standardization and safety, but also leveraging technology, to add value to a market where buses form the backbone of transportation for millions of travelers.

"By bringing FlixBus to India, we are launching in the second-largest bus market in the world and are expanding our network to South Asia, just four months after having expanded to Chile," says André Schwämmlein, co-founder and CEO of Flix.

Flix is going to connect 46 Indian cities

"This is a massive step for Flix. We are continuing our profitable growth path and are adding a 43rd country to our portfolio, by rolling out our proven business model that relies on partnerships with local operators.
I am confident that Flix will provide Indians with a new travel standard, enabled by technology, that is convenient and reliable and puts road safety at the heart of its offering. As in every market we enter, we are aiming for market leadership."

Starting February 6th, Flix is going to connect 46 Indian cities, including Ayodhya, Lucknow, Dehradun, Manali, and Jodhpur, across 59 stops and more than 200 daily connections. In the next stage, the company will look to expand its offering around Delhi and launch its first connections in the South of the country. To date, FlixBus has formed partnerships with five local bus companies based in Delhi.

Flix is responding to local market conditions and customer demand with a number of dedicated services to offer all bus travelers the safe and comfortable Flix travel experience, which Flix already delivers in 42 other markets around the globe. In India, the company puts a strong focus on road safety and works with a 24/7 traffic control and response team. Each bus, no older than three years old, is equipped with numerous safety features and staffed with a professionally trained host.
