AKSA Energy, a leading energy company, has entered into a strategic partnership with Doosan Škoda Power with the shared goal of expediting the completion of the Kyzylorda natural gas combined heat and power plant by 2025.
The collaboration underscores a significant commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions and meeting the growing demand for electricity and heat in the Kyzylorda city.
The 95 MW steam turbine DST-S10, equipped with cutting-edge technology and accessories, represents a significant investment in the advancement of clean energy production. Once completed, the Kyzylorda natural gas combined heat and power plant will boast a total installed capacity of 240 MW, effectively meeting both the energy and heat demand of the Kyzylorda city.
This transformative project is a critical step in Kazakhstan's transition from coal-fired base load power plants to natural gas, a cleaner and more efficient energy source, aligning with the nation's sustainability and environmental conservation goals such as reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2060, as announced by Kazakhstan.
"AKSA Energy is proud to announce its partnership with Doosan Škoda Power to accelerate the completion of the Kyzylorda natural gas combined heat and power plant by 2025," said Algan SARAÇOĞLU, Project Manager of AKSA Energy.
Mr. Algan SARAÇOĞLU also stated that "As Kazakhstan's first foreign direct investor in the energy sector, we prioritize our contribution to the country’s energy supply security as well as energy efficiency with the state-of-the-art technology we will use at our 240 MW Kyzylorda natural gas combined heat and power plant. We will maximize efficiency by providing resource optimization through generating both heat and energy at our power plant.
This strategic collaboration underscores our commitment to deliver efficient and sustainable energy solutions and meeting the region's electricity and heat demands in an environmentally responsible way. The project will bolster region’s sustainability goals by providing resource efficiency and energy transition from coal to natural gas."
Kazakhstan's energy system has historically been dominated by coal-fired base load power plants, but the transition to natural gas as a cleaner and more efficient energy source marks a pivotal shift towards a more sustainable energy landscape. The Kyzylorda natural gas combined heat and power plant is set to play a crucial role in this transformation, offering a reliable and environmentally friendly energy solution for the region.
The delivery of the steam turbine is planned third quarter of the 2024 according to the project schedule. This timeline underscores the commitment of both AKSA Energy and Doosan Škoda Power to delivering the Kyzylorda natural gas combined heat and power plant in a timely and efficient manner, further solidifying the project's significance in meeting the region's energy needs.
"We are honored to collaborate with AKSA Energy again after the first successful installation of 2x135 MW in Bolu Goynuk," stated Jindřich Závodný, Project Manager from Doosan Škoda Power.
"It´s a sign of growing market share in the region for our company since we are delivering third project to Kazakhstan. Kyzylorda project will follow the Karabatan 2x56 MW and Turkistan 2x175 MW. Our sales team does an excellence job, and we are thrilled to help our customer to reach their needs.”
The partnership between AKSA Energy and Doosan Škoda Power exemplifies a shared vision to advance sustainable energy solutions and underscores the companies' dedication to innovation and environmental stewardship.
